I got this to replace my HDD in my macbook. now i have lot of free space. no issues or any bad sector so far.
one small issue, it does get a bit hot. not sure, if that is normal, but that hasn't effect my macbook. so i guess it is ok.

I got this hdd and was all set to get it fitted, very easy. But when it would not restart I found it very hard to get the answers, so: if you get a message saying no software or firmware, "update requierd", get a usb stick download latest version of firmware from ps web site], THEN put the firmware in a folder called UPDATE then put that folder in another folder called PS3, put the stick in the ps and follow the instructions. this may not happen for everyone but if it does this will get you sorted

I have used Seagate hard drives for years and wanted to replace a Seagate 100GB in a Mac Book Pro with this one.
As can happen with hard drives, the new one failed early on - 35 days after it had been purchased!
This is not a complaint about Seagate drives - in my experience hard drives either fail early on or last for years
Unfortunately, Amazon appear to have an unusual view of the returns aspects of the Sale of Goods Act - after 30 days it is the manufacturers fault.
Happily Seagate have a superb returns and recovery system and I was up and running again within a week.
So, if your hard drive fails early, I can heartily recommend Seagate's no nonsense returns policy. I have used them for years and will continue to do so!

I bought this to replace the 250GB 5400RPM disk in my MacBook Pro 17" 2.5 GHz (Penryn model from 2008).
I toyed with getting the 7200RPM model, but I had concerns about heat and noise so in the end I decided on this 5400 RPM model.
Installation was fairly straight forward (as much as it can be in a Mac), once you get to the drive- it's a straight swap, there are no jumpers to set on the new drive.
I was hoping for more capacity and similar speed to the drive I was replacing. What I got was even better:
The drive is silent to my ears with no noticeable heat. But the mac is noticeably faster - this may just be a result of the fresh install rather than the drive, but either way I am very happy.
