My original 500 Gb Seagate (16 Mb cache) drive was making a slight noise after just over 3 years so bought this second drive to clone an existing one of same spec. Found this to match the description I was after, a SATA, 32MB cache, 7200rpm, 1TB, price, etc.. Very good service and delivery prompt. I checked with Seagate to ensure the warranty was in fact 5 years as stated. Their service was down online so I contacted their freephone number in the US. They confirmed the warranty was in fact 5 years and sent a prompt email for future reference. This gave me added peace of mind and they were helpful and apologised for the online disservice (should've put an alert for other customers in hindsight). Very pleased with the experience and drive. The drive is as my other one, quiet, smooth and fast. I have since cloned my other Seagate (also 5 year warranty) with the accompanying DiscWizard utility on CD. I still have the 500 Gb as spare for cloned backups! Hope this helps.

If you are looking for something that you can trust your data with then avoid Seagate brand at all cost, their hard drives is not as good as it used to be and if you get into trouble, they will send you another drive which some else has returned to Seagate. I have had a drive which gone bust , they sent me another which only S.M.A.R.T counter has been reset, the new one in less than a 3 hours , lost 65% of drive health, when I have called Seagate, they say send it to us we will send you another refurbished !!! which god knows what is wrong with that one, after 3 times hard drive exchange, I trough it away and bough a Samsung and God bless them what a performance.
